Lazy Month of January

I was lazy during the month of January. Lazy on my blog… and other aspects of my online life. I became so wrapped up in work and big projects with immediate deadlines that I let some online friends down, including myself, and for the I’m sorry.

Early mornings and late nights left no time for “me-time” and absolutely no time for anything else. What time I did have was devoted to my kids, maybe getting laundry done, and I think one day I did manage to do some dishes. Thank goodness for my 14 year old, even though it takes a ton of reminding to get him to focus on dishes.

January didn’t start off great. About a week into the month my laptop died on me; you now the dreaded blue screen that makes no sense. It was a great laptop and one reason I fell in love with HP products. I wish it had lasted just a bit longer. Since dying, I’ve tried to start it up and of the fifty or so times, it has managed to come back on twice.

I’ve got some great tech guys that I take my computers to and they are pretty confident that they can revive my HP laptop. Once they can bring it back to life it will become my backup and travel companion. Say a computer prayer that during the month of March I can finally take it in to get serviced.

Never realized how naked one can feel without a computer to work with. UGH!

My company was great about coming to my rescue. Since I work out of my home, a computer is a necessity to keep in touch with my corporate office, plus my team that is scattered around the U.S.. Sure, phones work, but I have to access to emails, reports, work server, and more. I was back up and working, and felt connected again.

Yep, I stayed with HP, a desktop this time. Although while formatting reports I stick with the regular keyboard, the touch screen comes in handy when working in emails, charts, and presentations.

For my online life when working on my web shows, writing posts or articles, or brainstorming events that I’m planning, I would love an HP TouchSmart Tablet; maybe even for travel purposes give the HP Slate a try when it is on the market, but both of those are totally on the dream wish and most likely won’t be happening in my lifetime. They would definitely make being outside with the kids a bit easier then trying to balance a laptop.

I’m feeling a bit less over-cooked; like I’m simmering again right where I need to be. Feeling a bit less stressed, but not yet back on track. All in good time; just let it all fall as needed.

Then to finish off the month of January, I celebrated birthday number 36. Sad that I completely forgot my own birthday. How did I remember? Friends on Facebook were sending me “Happy Birthday” messages. I think that is when you realize for some, birthdays are just another day when you hit a certain age.

So far February has been good and bears no resemblance to the fiascos of January. Thank goodness for that. But, if special days tell you anything, I’m writing this post on Valentine’s Day.
