Completely Opposite
Last night was my son’s conference… today was my daughter’s. The two are completely opposite; day and night. It can be a good thing – sometimes. Other times it can be a nightmare – and both kids know it.
The parent teacher conference was a good one. My daughter is very much the helper in class, is doing at level or above level for pretty much every area in her class… her downfall – she likes to visit her friends in class way too much.
She’s a lover, not a fighter!
Like I said, she is very much a helper. She will help you with your work, sharpen a pencil, pack your backpack for you, but she chooses to do these chores at the wrong time… during centers, or class reading, even when the teacher is in the middle of teaching.
I’m glad that she is overly helpful instead of the bully in class. So, I had a chat with the little girl tonight about how to choose the right times to be helpful and when she needs to let the teacher be the teacher. I think she got it and quite honestly all she was worried about was if her grades were good.
Well, yes, she is the only child I have that loves school. But, she is only in third grade right now. It could very well change. I will take the happiness while I can get it. Trust me… I’m not prepared for what will be happening in a few years!
